Inventory Planner and stock levels

Inventory Planner does not control stock levels and does not act as master of inventory.

Inventory levels will be controlled outside of Inventory Planner either by your platform (e.g. Amazon, Shopify) or by another system like an inventory management system (e.g. Skubana, QuickBooks Commerce, Ordoro).

Inventory Planner reads stock levels from your connected platform and updates the information within your Inventory Planner account during a daily data sync.

The only time that Inventory Planner can update stock levels is by optionally pushing received amounts from a purchase order to select sales platform (Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, Neto, and Prestashop).

Stock levels and Amazon FBA

If your Inventory Planner account is connected to an FBA store, the amount of stock displayed in Inventory Planner is based on the available units for sale in Amazon.

There are three reserved quantities that can affect the stock quantity available:

  • Customer Order

  • FC (fulfillment center) Transfer

  • FC Processing

Inventory Planner's quantities are based on the number of units available for sale as stated in the Amazon report. Typically, that includes FC Transfers but excludes FC Processing and Customer Orders.

However, Amazon notes that from time to time some units being transferred from one warehouse to another can briefly be in both the FC Transfer and FB Processing categories.

Troubleshooting stock levels

There are a few reasons why the inventory or stock levels displaying in Inventory Planner may be different than what shows in your store or inventory management system. Below is a list of things to check.

Last sync time

Inventory Planner automatically syncs once daily. If sales were placed after the last sync, that could result in discrepancies between Inventory Planner and your store. You can check the last sync time and date by clicking the "Sync" button.

Multiple warehouses

If you manage multiple warehouses, check to make sure you're comparing the stock levels in corresponding warehouses (or combined warehouses).

You can view the current warehouse at the top left-hand side of your report.

Combined warehouses

If you're comparing stock levels to a combined warehouse, view your warehouse settings to check how it's being affected by your connected stores or sales channels. Go to Account > Settings > Connections and warehouses, and scroll down to your combined warehouse.
