If you need to report on your historical stock, there are a number of options that can provide you with the information you need - particularly the Stock History report and the Inventory KPIs report.

The Stock History report displays stock levels and values for the beginning and end of each month. If you need a more granular report, you can use the Inventory KPIs report to filter for particular dates, and use the details popup to obtain even further insights into historical stock value.

The Stock History Report shows historical inventory levels. Inventory information including units, cost value, and retail value are shown on a monthly or weekly basis.

The "stock" column in your reports always shows a variant's inventory level as of the prior sync, regardless of the dates of your report.

To show historical stock information on the KPI report, you will need to add the "opening stock" and/or "closing stock" columns to your report. Opening stock reflects the inventory level as of the beginning date of your report, and closing stock displays the inventory as of the ending report date. Both dates can be chosen using the date picker in the top right-hand corner of the page.

Related opening and closing stock metrics also correspond to the start and end dates of your report. These include:

Go to the Inventory KPI report in the menu on the left and configure it as follows:

Choose the warehouse (location) you would like to report on.

Tip: If you need to generate a company-wide report that would aggregate information from multiple warehouses, create a combined warehouse. Learn how to create a combined warehouse.

Choose how detailed you want the report to be (or what dimension you'd like to report on). To see a warehouse-wide report, select "Total".

Use the date picker In the upper right corner to choose the date range for your opening and closing stock.

For example if you are generating a year-end stock valuation report, you should select an ending date of December 31 for the prior year.

Click on the gear icon to view the column options.

Select Opening Stock and Closing Stock to add them to your report. Opening and Closing Stock will show inventory levels. Opening and Closing Stock Cost, Retail and Gross can be added to show financial information. (See detail above or the Glossary of Terms to learn more about these metrics.)

​Note that the Stock column will always show your inventory level as of the most recent sync, regardless of the dates of your report.

Once you've selected your columns, click the gear icon again to collapse the column options. The opening and closing stock figures are now present on your report.

On the Inventory KPIs report, make sure you're filtering for "Total" variants over your required date range, then click the Details icon.

View the Stock and sales tab to see stock levels and stock cost over the date range of your report.

Hover over the chart to see the value on a particular date.

If you'd like to see the historic cost price per unit, use the Variant view of this report instead of the Total view. When hovering on this chart, you'll also see the cost price on that date.

You can also download these graphs by clicking the hamburger icon on the top right-hand side. This menu will allow you to print the graph, as well as export it in the following formats:

Additionally you can download the data points as a CSV or XLS spreadsheet, or just view the data within the modal window by clicking "Show data table".
