If you are changing between platforms, you will need to update your Inventory Planner connections to remove the old platform and connect the new one.
Each connector is different, so the process will be slightly different depending on what you are switching to and from. However, in every case, connecting a new platform will create at least one new warehouse, and you will have to transfer data associated with your old connector’s warehouses to the new one.
This article will go through a checklist of things that are required to perform a successful switch. Not every action may be applicable to your situation.
Creating the new connection
Importing your sales and stock history
Updating your open stock orders
Checking your listings
Configuring variant settings for your new warehouse
Updating existing configuration
Automations

Variant custom fields

Deleting the old connection
Creating the new connection
You can create a new connection by going to Account > Settings > Connections and warehouses, then clicking “+ New connection”.
When you create your new connection, Inventory Planner will automatically create a new warehouse tied to the connection. You’ll use the new warehouse going forward.
Importing your sales and stock history
If you’re switching platforms, you can contact Inventory Planner support and ask them to copy your sales and stock history from your old connection to your new one.
If that’s not possible, you can export your sales and stock history, then reimport it into the new warehouse.
You can export your sales history directly from your old platform, then use the import functionality to add it into Inventory Planner. Learn more about importing your sales history here.
If you have access to your stock history in your old platform, it may be easiest to export it there. Otherwise, you can export your stock history SKU by SKU using the “Stock and sales” tab in the “Details” section, or date by date using the KPIs report. Once you have the data, you can import it into Inventory Planner. Learn more about importing your stock history here.
Updating your open stock orders
If you have any open stock orders using the old warehouse as a source or destination warehouse, you will need to edit them to use the new warehouse instead.
Updating the source warehouse
For transfer orders, you can change the source warehouse in bulk by selecting the relevant orders, then clicking Bulk actions > Set source.
Updating the destination warehouse
To update the destination warehouse on a stock order, go into the order and click the Edit button. You should then have the option to change the destination warehouse.
Checking your listings
As listings are downloaded from your connected platforms, you need to make sure the listings from your new platform have downloaded correctly and are being correctly linked within Inventory Planner.
If the SKUs on the new platform differ, or if you have multiple listings on the new platform for the same variant, you may need to manually link your listings.
Configuring variant settings for your new warehouse
You may have configured some options for your products on the warehouse level. If you have, you’ll need to reconfigure them for the new warehouse.
Examples may include:
Lead times
Days of stock
Minimum/maximum stock
Alerts
To adjust any of this configuration, go to Replenishment, then filter by warehouse. Click Bulk actions and choose the appropriate option.
You can also go to Catalog > Warehouses to update the configuration for multiple warehouses at once.
Updating existing configuration
Automations
If you have any automations that were reliant on your previous warehouse, you will need to update your automation settings to use the new warehouse instead.
Go to Account > Automations to view your automations.
Combined warehouses
If your old warehouse was included in a combined warehouse, you need to update your combined warehouse to use the new warehouse instead.
Go to Account > Settings > Connections and warehouses to view your combined warehouses.
Reporting presets
If you have set up report presets that use the old warehouse, you will need to update them to use the new warehouse instead.
Variant custom fields
Inventory Planner’s support team can enable custom fields for your variants. If you have custom fields enabled, you may need to ask Inventory Planner support to ensure they are correctly mapped to the correct fields on the new platform.
Wholesale settings
If you’ll be using your new platform to sell wholesale orders, or used your old platform for wholesale orders, you may need to adjust your wholesale planning settings to ensure you have the correct wholesale channels and warehouses set.
Deleting the old connection
Once you’ve connected your new platform, made sure your sales and stock data has transferred over, and updated any necessary configuration, you can delete the old connection.
To delete the old connection, go to Account > Settings > Connections and warehouses. Find the old connection in your list, then click the trash can icon next to the connection name.
