Choosing a base currency for your account
The base currency for your account is automatically detected through the API based on the currency of your store. When you have connected accounts using different currencies, the default currency is determined by the first platform connected.
Displaying different currencies in your account
All sections of Inventory Planner (aside from purchase orders) display figures in your base currency. Cost prices shown in Replenishment and other reports for your variants are converted into the base currency.
Purchase orders can be created in the currency assigned to a specific supplier. You can designate a currency for your supplier under Catalog > Vendors.
Note: If a vendor's currency is different to your base currency, the cost price value pulled from your platform will be in the vendor's currency. Any report page will then show the converted value to the account's base currency.
Setting currencies for vendors
Single vendor
To set the currency for a single vendor, go to Catalog > Vendors and click "Settings" beneath the vendor you're editing.
In the "Settings" tab, scroll to the "Payment and shipment" section, where you can set the "Currency" field.
Select a currency from the dropdown options, and once you've chosen your currency, click "Save" at the bottom of the screen.
Note: If the currency you would like to select isn't visible in the list, click "More currencies" to view the full range of available options.
In bulk
Vendor currency can be updated for several suppliers at one time using bulk actions. In Catalog > Vendors, use the checkboxes on the left to select which suppliers to update. Then click "Bulk Actions" at the bottom of the screen, then "Set currency".
In the popup, choose the currency you're assigning your suppliers, then click "Apply" to save changes.
On a purchase order
You can also change the currency when creating a purchase order. In edit mode of your purchase order, click on "Settings" and scroll to the "Currency" field.
Converting currencies for sales
Inventory Planner connects to Fixer.io to retrieve up-to-the-minute currency conversion rates. Data is retrieved from banks and financial data providers, and the exchange rate information used is the midpoint of the Bid and Ask.
Historic exchange rates
If you'd like to see exchange rates for a historic date, you will need to query Fixer.io's API. Please see the "Historical rates endpoint" section in their documentation for more information.
